The Sparkman & Stephens Art Gallery and Boat Store was founded by Donald Tofias, a devoted collector of fine art and maritime objects, who has sketched and painted his whole life. Having owned a gallery previously, Donald always dreamed of establishing a dedicated maritime art gallery in Newport. As the sailing capital of the world, Newport for over 200 years has drawn sailors, traders, and collectors to its famous shores. The city has long been a historic center of American Impressionism, with generations of artists inspired by the harbor and coastline. It is here, at the intersection of art and the sea, that Sparkman & Stephens Art Gallery and Boat Store proudly calls home.
